NEW YEAR, NEW DECADE
First and foremost, happy and prosperous New Year to you all, and I do hope you’ve had a wonderful Christmas!
As the decade turns, it’s interesting to reflect on the last ten years, which have seen unprecedented events unfold, particularly in the political arena. Within the last decennium, there has also been sustained growth in the property market.
According to UK House Price Index statistics, average property prices in St Edmundsbury have risen from £182,962 in February 2010 to £282,163 in September 2019 with a similar level of growth experienced in Babergh and Mid Suffolk too. For my own agency, this has been one of the factors that has driven significant expansion.
As a general rule, the new year marks a fresh start. For a significant number of people, this can mean moving house. As such, additional buyers and sellers enter the property market in January and this creates opportunity for everyone. Spring is also just around the corner and beckons in what is traditionally an excellent time to be on the property market.
Over and above changes inspired by a new year, however, the turning point from 2019 to 2020 also means the start of a new decade and I personally feel optimistic for the 20s. I’m hopeful that it will deliver sustained growth in this area, just like the last decade has.
